What do we mean by consortium?

For this proposal, a consortium means a group of private and public sector organisations that have a common need to secure a pool of consistent quality coaches to work at senior leadership levels. The pool will offer a diverse range of coaches with specific technical coaching knowledge and behavioural competency who work to support individuals' management of personal and/or organisational transition.

The collaboration between consortium members would primarily be on agreeing this proposal and participating in a learning community committed to sharing best practice in the selection, matching and supervision of coaches in organisations.

There is NO expectation for organisations to share their criteria, leadership competencies or internal coaching processes as part of this consortium. Competing organisations can hold membership of the consortium without concern for business sensitivity and confidentiality.

What the consortium is not

A brokerage for coaches, it is not intended for the consortium to be a business earning fees from the brokering of coaches. Coaches would contract directly with the organisation from which the coaching work is offered.

What are the organisational benefits of joining the consortium?

  • Access to a rigorous selection and assessment process for coaches working at senior leadership levels which had been tested globally
  • Access to a diverse, high quality pool of coaches who have successfully participated in a rigorous professional review
  • Reduced development, running and maintenance costs for selection and matching of coaches
  • Consulting to relate your existing processes to best practice tested in similar organisations extending your current work to enhance the impact of coaching in your organisation
  • Access to research, experience and best practice in the field of coach development, coaching criteria, assessment, selection and matching from the i-coach academy
  • Assessor training in assessment methods specifically related to the field of coaching
  • Participation as an assessor in consortium and i-coach academy professional review days for the purpose of refining your assessment skills in this unique field.
  • Website with consistent profiles of coaches who have successfully participated in the professional review
  • Service which monitors CPD and supervision of coaches in the consortium annually
  • Participation in annual review events sharing best practice and learning across partner members relevant to enhancing the return on your organisation's investment in coaching
  • Partnership with i-coach academy who can provide additional services such as matching, supervision & CPD for coaches, design and evaluation of coaching interventions.

At a recent breakfast forum we invite organisations to discuss the issue of selection and assessment of coaches and the role a consortium could play in helping their organisation save time and money. We would welcome your views too.
