Applying Coaching Techniques
Applying Coaching Techniques (ACT) provides leaders and managers with an opportunity to refresh core coaching skills which support the enhancement of individual and team performance whilst encouraging learning.
Leaders who benefit from this programme tend to report a number of challenges before attending the programme such as:
• “struggle to delegate and keep individuals accountable”
• “feel overwhelmed with their workload and have little work-life balance”
• “are challenged to influence those outside of their direct reporting line"
The Programme
The programme consists of a two day Workshop and is followed by two 1:1 Coaching Sessions to support participants to embed their learning as they experiement and apply the skills and techniques in their own context. Participants can choose to receive their coaching via telephone or to engage in face to face coaching.
For those seeking coaching skills programme as a stepping stone towards a career as a coach or to aquire formal accreditation of their coaching skills, we encourage you to consider our Foundation in Coaching Skills Programmme, the first module of which is shared with the Applying Coaching Techniques programme.
Workshop
During the two day workshop, participants are introduced to the core concepts and skills underpinning coaching practice including Learning Theory, the art of Questions, Feedback, Listening and the GROW model. Participants will be supported to identify their individual preferences and strengths and develop their own style of coaching. At the end of the two days participants will be to recognise the difference between coaching and a helpful conversation as they experiment with getting beneath the surface of what is being said.
The programme design is primarily experiential and combines classroom discussion and exercises with individual reflection and opportunities to apply the skills in real time and receive feedback.
