Doctorate Programme
The programme
i-coach academy is keen to support the development of the coaching profession and consider doctorate level research core to the growth of the profession. Our purpose in supporting doctorate level work is to encourage future faculty for the field of coaching, i.e. those who teach and supervise those developing as coaches as well the development of theory and application relevant to the South Africa context. Through our partnership with the University of Stellenbosch, we are in the process of establishing a centre of excellence for research in this field - the African Centre for Learning and Coaching. This doctorate programme is envisioned to be central to the development of research in this centre.
i-coach academy is currently supporting nine students on their journey to a professional doctorate (DProf) in this field in South Africa.
The path to a Professional Doctorate in Coaching is delivered in association with the International Centre for the Study of Coaching at Middlesex University, UK. This programme is for experienced professionals who wish to contribute to the development of the coaching profession through research, teaching and writing. The doctorate requires an ability to do, as well as to research, and thus entrance to this programme requires extensive coaching experience and a masters degree in coaching or a related field. This programme is tailored around indivdiual participants' experience and we would welcome the opportunity to have a conversation with you so that we can understand more about your current experience/education and training in coaching and your aspirations for your doctorate journey.
