Clyde Smeda

Clyde is an Executive and Leadership Coach and a Consulting Human Resources Professional. He currently manages his own consultancy and is based in Cape Town and is South African. With more than 12 years experience, Clyde brings with him an extensive background within the field of Human Resources. He has consulted to organisations, in relation to their leadership practices and human resources processes. He also brings with him vast experience within the leadership development and assessment arena.

He commenced his career in the areas of competency profiling and behavioural assessment. This platform provided him with extensive exposure in understanding human behaviour, within organisations. He is qualified in the interpretation of a number of personality assessment tools and behavioural assessment techniques.

Clyde has an Honours degree in Organisational Psychology (University of Cape Town) and is a registered Psychometrist with the Health Professions Council of South Africa. He has completed his Certificate in Coaching Practice, in 2008. He has also completed his Mastery in Professional Coaching, via i-Coach Academy in 2009, supported by Middlesex University (UK) and will be engaging in his research thesis going forward. He has been accredited as a Thinking Environment Facilitator and is currently completing his Time To Think Coach in Practicum. He is a member of the South African Thinking Environment Collegiate, which is headed-up by Nancy Kline, and is also a member of Coaches and Mentors of South Africa (COMENSA).

Clyde has had experience running assessment centres within a leadership development, as well as a selection assessment context. He has had exposure in this regard in both the Financial Services and Mining Industries, in South Africa and Namibia. He has also worked locally in the Telecommunications Industry.

Clyde has simultaneously developed a portfolio within the generalist Human Resources sphere. This portfolio includes his experience in creating and developing Human Resources policies and practices for start-up businesses, as well as their maintenance after establishment. His Human Resources generalist portfolio has given him the opportunity to support leaders, within various organisations – specifically Distribution businesses in the Financial Services industry – in their endeavour to meet organisational objectives.

Clyde has coached leaders at various levels, within organisations, for the past four years. He has facilitated the learning and development of his clients within the context of our ever-changing macro-economic climate. He has worked at various levels of leadership and has focused on coaching leaders in transition, by facilitating the enhancement of their own self-awareness. He has provided coaching services internationally, in Africa, specifically in Windhoek – Namibia and Senegal – Dakar, as well as in the USA – Washington DC. He has coached within the financial services, engineering and transport industries. He has also co-designed and co-facilitates a Coaching Skills Programme, which aims to enhance the manner in which people connect, with each other, in various spheres of life. Clyde has therefore come to live his belief that people are able to achieve their potential, by living his personal passion for coaching.
