Hamid Tavassoly


Prior to developing as a coach, Hamid has spent 20 years as a Chartered civil engineer, consultant, director and civil servant. His coaching clients are drawn from a wide variety of fields including the civil service, retail, legal and medical professions, the financial sector, entrepreneurs, charities, creative media as well as other coaches. Hamid is an Executive Coach at Civil Service Learning and coaches across all levels including Senior Civil Servants.

Hamid’s coaching supports clients to increase their awareness of their values and purpose and links these to their objectives and performance. Through challenging their self-imposed limiting beliefs and assumptions, he helps the clients to identify their strengths, values and potential. Clients have found that once they are aware of these and have clarified their goals and potential, their confidence grows in working towards and reaching their aspirations. Hamid has supported clients to deal with issues of change, transition, career choice and progression, confidence, personal impact, managerial effectiveness, increased flexibility & resilience, discovering their creativity, dealing with conflict and work-life balance.

Hamid has coached clients from: Department for Transport, Home Office, Ministry of Defence, NHS, Department of Health, Standard Bank, Citi Bank, Save the Children, De Beers, LVMH, Department for International Development, Department for Environment Food & Rural Affairs, Department for Work & Pensions, HM Revenue & Customs, Central Office of Information, HM Prisons, and Department for Business Innovation & Skills. Hamid’s clients’ feedbacks reflect his ability to create a safe space where clients can freely express themselves whilst being challenged appropriately. His listening and questioning skills have helped them to think around solutions to very complex issues and increase their effectiveness and performance which in turn has increased their confidence in their own abilities. Clients’ have commented on his integrity and analytical mind together with the feeling of being empowered on both rational and intuitive levels.

At i-coach academy, Hamid supports students in developing their critical reflective sills and integrating their learning into their coaching model together with facilitating their learning and development towards gaining professional qualifications.

Hamid is an NLP practitioner and holds an MA in Professional Coaching through Middlesex University. Hamid has completed i-coach academy’s programmes of Foundation, Certificate and Masters in Professional Coaching Practice accredited by the European Mentoring and Coaching Council (EMCC) at EQA Master Practitioner level. He is qualified by the British Psychological Society for Test Use: Occupational, Ability and Personality (Levels A & B) and also European Federation of Psychologists’ Associations Level 2 Euro Test User. He is qualified for the use of MBTI, FIRO-B, 16PF, and Hogan (HPI, HDS, and MVPI). He has strong interest in development of creativity and his MA research project was on the impact of creative coaching techniques on clients’ creativity. He is an associate member of CIPD and a member of the EMCC and abides by their code of ethics. Hamid attends regular supervision.

Hamid also holds an MBA from Imperial College London, and two Masters in engineering fields. He is a member of the Institution of Civil Engineers, The Chartered Institution of Highways and Transportation, and Association for Project Management.
