Liz Barnes is a learning and development facilitator and coach. She works with teams, groups and 1:1 with leaders, entrepreneurs or individuals in pursuit of their full business or career potential and personal aspirations. Liz believes that through self organised learning and appreciative inquiry individuals can develop competence and self confidence to assess and personally lead themselves through changes throughout their lives.
Liz is practical and pragmatic, an experienced researcher and team leader, who having spent many years working for Unilever Plc, realised the best way to develop people was to coach them to achieve goals and grow through the experiences. Her interest in people’s attitudes and beliefs and how this impacts behaviour began when training as a market researcher. She is experienced in quantitative and qualitative consumer research and became a member of the Market Research Society in 1994. She was also involved in Unilever corporate projects for building a coaching culture and the assessment and evaluation of executive coaches.
Most recently she worked as a Learning and Development consultant at Cranfield University involved in strategic projects leading to the design and delivering various leadership, management and bespoke programmes and events. She has delivered events and coached within both the public and private sectors. Clients have included Unilever, the BBC and a variety of small entrepreneurial business, senior and middle management staff and teams at Cranfield University and has also facilitated groups and coached MBA students through ‘career stocktaking’. Now working with i-coach academy, she coaches and facilitates the learning and development of students working towards a professional coaching qualification.
Liz has a Postgraduate Certificate and Masters in Coaching (i-coach/Middlesex University). She is a Chartered Member of the CIPD, a master NLP practitioner and BPS Level A and B accredited. She is also a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
