Ray Barruffo established his own consultancy in 2006 after more than 35 years with Shell International in numerous positions up to executive level in the field of contracting, procurement and supply chain management. In mid-career Ray pursued a number of opportunities which allowed him to develop his skills and knowledge in design, facilitation, change management and leadership development, particularly to build capability in the context of organisational development. His career has included senior international roles in Europe, South-East Asia, the Middle East and South America, covering a diverse range of topics from refinery turnarounds in Australia, mergers in Northern Europe, business planning in Oman and leadership coaching in Singapore.
He believes strongly in the power of effective coaching for both performance and development and the need for leaders to develop the next cadre of leaders. Ray coaches clients who are preparing for, or undergoing, transitions in their careers and/or are driving organisation change processes. His clients describe him as effective at building their capability to achieve their goals, often using a coaching style themselves.
Ray continues to work with Shell as external faculty for leadership development. He is a member of Duke Corporate Education’s Global Learning Resource Network, and has worked on assignment for them with ArcelorMittal. He supports NDAASE in Africa, working with Ecobank’s directors and senior managers and is also an associate of The Coverdale Organisation in the UK and Nequivi in the Netherlands.
